Protecting Paradise, One Reef at a Time

At Dany Island, we believe that true luxury means protecting the beauty that surrounds us. That’s why we’ve dedicated a large part of the island and its surrounding waters to conservation.

Dany Island is home to a government-recognised marine sanctuary, established in partnership with local authorities to preserve beautifully rare coral reefs, tropical fish, and endangered marine life.

One of our proudest achievements? The island is a conservation area natural nesting site for sea turtles, including the endangered hawksbill turtle. Guests are often lucky enough to witness these majestic creatures in the wild — swimming, feeding, or nesting right on our shores.

What We’re Doing:

  • Protecting our surrounding reef from fishing, pollution and anchoring
  • Hosting only a limited number of guests at a time to reduce impact
  • Using solar energy, rainwater systems, and low-impact building materials
  • Having a backup generator that runs on virgin coconut oil
  • Collaborating with local communities to protect marine biodiversity

How You Can Help:

  • Follow our reef and turtle safety guidelines
  • Share your experience to raise awareness
  • Visit us on one of our day tours or overnight stays
  • Respect the land, the sea, and the people who care for it

Conservation Area:

  • Dany Island has experienced an influx of fish and coral growth recently
  • As Santo’s breeding ground for Sea Turtles, Dany Island has seen a significant increase in Green and Hawksbill Sea Turtles with ongoing conservation efforts (1600 turtles born on Dany Island in an 8 month period)
  •

  • Guests with Dany Island bookings enter the conservation area on registered vessels. For the protection of the marine ecosystem, other people and vessels are prohibited from entering the entering the Dany Island reefs which are outlined in the map below and are subject to police-issued penalties for breaches:

Together, we’re building a model for sustainable tourism — where protecting nature isn’t just a side note, it’s the main reason we’re here.
